On 17 January 2023, the Commissioner of Taxation issued an alert, informing the public of the commencement of the gradual release in stages of the new platform Tax For All (TFA), which will replace the existing platform, TAXISnet.
Through its alert, the Commissioner informs the public that an important element for the transition to TFA is the User email that will be used for updates and communications. Users are requested to update their emails immediately, via TAXISnet given that its correctness is essential for the transition of the User’s account from the old to the new platform. The change of email can be done following the instructions that have been posted on the website of the Tax Department.
It is important to mention that the first stage of the gradual release concerns Indirect Tax and it will include the following:
- Submission of VAT Returns (current format – new format expected towards the end of 2023)
- Submission of VIES Returns
- Payments (will introduce functionality for VAT payments (including JCC))
- Refunds
- Certificates
- VAT statements
- Complaints
- Communication/Q&A
In a nutshell, the practical changes that are around the corner and concern Indirect Tax are the following:
- New Platform
- Electronic submission of all the VAT Returns and supporting documents
- Ability to update some personal details
- Electronic payments and transaction history
- Electronic refund request
- Details/Account’s history
- Direct communication with the Department of Taxation via Requests/Questions
- Management of Representatives
- New VAT number which will not be matched with the ID number or HE number of the taxpayer
Therefore, a new era begins soon, and taxpayers should prepare. The first thing to do is for taxpayers to update their email and access credentials for TAXISnet to ensure a smooth transition.
